Hear how Henrico County Public Schools transitioned from a punitive approach regarding inappropriate student behavior to a disciplined approach.  This presentation will explore practices that address disparity in student discipline, as well as the proactive measures to make exclusionary practices a last resort. Dr. Noel will also share candid experiences that have taught him, “how to reach the (sometimes) hard-to-reach.”   

Disproportionality in Schools

This session will examine examples of disproportionality in schools as well as causes, interventions, and solutions.  Attendees will create strategies to respond to disproportionality and develop effective equity practices. Throughout the presentation, classroom policies will be investigated to determine the best practices.
