In recognition of CTE month, MERC is hosting a seminar focused on Career and Technical Education that features an overview of findings from a recent MERC research and policy review on CTE as well as a panel discussion with CTE leaders throughout the MERC region. Speakers at this seminar will include:
Chad Maclin - Director of CTE, Chesterfield County Public Schools
Bruce Watson - Director of CTE, Goochland County Public Schools
Justin Roerink - Coordinator of CTE and Workforce Development and Principal of The Hanover Center for Trades and Technology, Hanover County Public Schools
Mac Beaton - Director of Workforce and Career Development, Henrico County Public Schools
Courtney Ward - Director of Secondary Success Pathways, Richmond Public Schools
David Naff, PhD - Director, Metropolitan Educational Research Consortium
Phelton Moss, PhD - Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership, VCU School of Education
Meleah Ellison, EdD - Research and Evaluation Associate, Institute for Collaborative Research and Evaluation
Participants will learn about current research and trends related to CTE as well as strategies for providing innovative programming for secondary students throughout the Commonwealth.
This MERC seminar is free, but an RSVP is required. You will receive a calendar invitation and Zoom link ahead of the seminar after registering. All participants will receive a certificate for 1.5 hours to be used towards professional learning credit.
