Join us for a free Zoom seminar on supporting mental health in schools through MTSS on 4/21
Feb. 12, 2026

TUESDAY, APRIL 21ST 3:30-5:00
Recent MERC research found that PK-12 faculty and staff in our region feel a strong sense of personal and professional responsibility to meet the mental health needs of their students, but do not always feel sufficiently prepared to do so. They also tend to view Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) as less effective than it could be for providing this support. In collaboration with the Virginia Tiered Systems of Support (VTSS), this MERC seminar will share research, resources, and strategies for leveraging MTSS to support student mental health in schools. Session facilitators include:
David Naff, PhD: Director, Metropolitan Educational Research Consortium
Shenita Williams, PhD, LCSW: Social Work Coordinator, Henrico County Public Schools
Chin-Chih Chen, PhD: Associate Professor of Counseling and Special Education, Virginia Commonwealth University
Kade Goldin: PhD Student, Social Work, Virginia Commonwealth University
Anna Hebb, EdD: Local Education Lead, VTSS Systems Coach
Kris Herakovich Curtis, EdD, MBA: VTSS Systems Coach & Co-Director of VCU Project CONNECTS
Kim Dupre, EdD: VTSS Systems Coach & Co-Director of VCU Project CONNECTS
This MERC seminar is free, but an RSVP is required. You will receive a calendar invitation and Zoom link ahead of the seminar after registering. All participants will receive a certificate for 1.5 hours to be used towards professional learning credit.
